How to pack furniture and appliances so nothing gets damaged
6 min read · Updated 20/09/2026
Most damage happens during loading and unloading rather than on the road. Proper packing removes almost all of that risk.
What you need
- Bubble wrap: for glass, mirrors and the TV.
- Stretch film: to wrap soft furniture and hold doors shut.
- Cardboard boxes: small ones for books, large ones for light items.
- Tape, a marker and zip bags for screws.
- Blankets or old covers to protect corners.
Furniture
Take wardrobes and beds apart: assembled they are hard to carry and easier to damage. Put the screws in a bag and tape it to the furniture. Wrap soft furniture fully in stretch film and put cardboard on the corners. Remove glass doors and pack them separately.
Appliances
Unplug the fridge three hours ahead, drain the water and carry it upright only. Lock the washing machine drum with transport bolts, otherwise the dampers can break. Wrap the TV in bubble wrap, carry it upright and never rest it on the screen.
Boxes
Heavy things go in small boxes, light things in large ones: a box over 20 kg is awkward to lift. Label the room and mark fragile boxes. Fill boxes to the top and pad the gaps with cloth or paper so the contents do not shift.
Before loading
Photograph the whole load. The driver adds photos at pickup inside the order, and your own shots record the original condition. If a dispute comes up, these photos are the main evidence.

Loaders can help using your materials, but full packing service is agreed separately in the order description.
