Eight rules that keep you safe when booking freight transport

Problems in freight transport repeat themselves. Knowing them in advance is enough to save your money and nerves.
1. Keep the price in writing
A price said over the phone proves nothing. Keep the order electronic: route, vehicle, date and amount recorded. In YukTap this is saved automatically.
2. Do not pay a cash advance
Avoid anyone asking for prepayment before they have even seen the cargo. The safest setup is payment held by the service and released to the carrier only after delivery.
3. Check the driver and the vehicle
The order shows the driver name, phone and vehicle plate. If a different vehicle turns up, do not hand over the cargo.
4. Take photos at pickup
Photograph the whole load and any existing damage separately. This is the strongest argument in a dispute.
5. Use the delivery code
Only the person receiving the cargo should know the code. Never give it to the driver in advance: the code is the proof of handover.
6. State weight and size honestly
Wrong data leads to recalculation on the spot, which always costs more and often ends in an argument.
7. Look at the rating
Completed orders and reviews give a real picture. The profile statistics are public.
8. Keep negotiations in the order chat
Let every agreement stay in the chat. Words on the phone vanish, a message stays and support can see it.
If something goes wrong, open a dispute in the dashboard. The payment is still with the service and will not move until the dispute is settled.
Frequently asked questions
What if the cargo is damaged?
Photograph it at delivery and open a dispute in the order right away. The payment has not been released yet.
The driver asks for extra money?
The amount in the order is final. If extra is demanded, do not pay and message support.
